Artifactor is dedicated to exploring and reimagining cultural heritage through the lens of media archaeology—by connecting historical archives with contemporary tools & creative practices. Based in Louisiana but with a global reach, we'll empower artists, educators, and community organizers to transform historical materials into immersive digital experiences, interactive exhibits, and innovative multimedia narratives.
As the incubator arm of NOLA DNA, a major historical archives initiative, Artifactor will provide consulting, mentorship, and grant-writing support to facilitate the creative and responsible articulation of overlooked historical narratives. We'll help unlock previously hidden connections, validate sources, and reveal fresh, authentic perspectives within the historical record.
Through partnerships with artists, researchers and established institutions, we'll ensure that cultural memory is not only preserved, but vigorously re-engaged and critically re-examined, fostering innovative artistic exploration that bridges the past and the future. It's time to widen the lens of historical inquiry and document a more comprehensive (and enthralling!) vision of our shared past.
